City Potters

Founded in the summer of 2013, City Potters is a working pottery studio located in the heart of Chelsea arts neighborhood of New York City. Owners Maggy Ames and Bari Moss share workspace with fourteen other potters in a floor-through loft at the top of an old manufacturing building. Left in its natural state, the old brick walls, iron pipes and pressed-tin ceiling of the original structure lend a feeling of old-time New York. Though each member of City Potters has a private work space, the studio operates much like a co-op -- equipment is shared, glazes and glaze areas are communal, and firing is collaborative. Though Manhattan is still home to many wonderful ceramic schools, City Potters is one of the few full-time working studios remaining.
